People & Places Matter

Millport Town Hall is on the Isle of Cumbrae and is a historic building on the At Risk register within a Conservation Area.  Dating from 1878 this is a key building for the community and has played an important part in the history of the Island and its residents over the past 140 years. One of the greatest threats to the buildings of the Millport Conservation area is limited maintenance and care. Moves are afoot by the community to preserve this building and bring it back into sustainable use for many years to come.

"One of the marvelous things about community is that it enables us to welcome and help people in a way we couldn't as individuals.

When we pool our strength and share the work and responsibility, we can welcome many people, even those in deep distress, and perhaps help them find self-confidence and inner healing"

- Jean Vanier, Community And Growth
